Is a congregation of the United Methodist Church serving the greater Tyler area and East Texas. In 2007 two long standing congregations (Walter Fair UMC, and Glenwood UMC) merged and became what is now known as Fairwood UMC.

For 15 years now the congregation of Fairwood has looked toward the future and where God is leading them while at the same time, cherishing and continuing traditions from both communities. Together we are able to live into the UMC call to make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the world.

As a Christian Community we stand alongside the traditions and beliefs that God the creator, Jesus the Savior, and the Holy Spirit as Advocate operate in a triune way to guide us and sustain in all things.  We engage with the Holy scriptures as a starting point for our beliefs, our strength and our call to action.  We firmly state and proclaim that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins, was resurrected and lives with and among us today.

As a United Methodist Congregation we are rooted in the Wesleyan tradition of grace upon grace.  Recognizing that we all fall short of the glory of God we also rejoice in the opportunity given to us all of grace and redemption through God’s son, Jesus Christ.  At Fairwood we seek to communicate and show others that here, as in God’s kingdom, all persons are loved, belong, and are called to action as Disciples of Jesus Christ.  We do this best in a connected community with others locally, nationally, and internationally so that we may live into John Wesley’s claim that “the world is our parish.”

As a faith community we believe that all persons are created in the Divine image of God and that calls us, as disciples of Christ to love all people, welcome all people, and seek to serve all people.  We are an open and welcoming congregation that seeks to reflect the love of God by being Disciples of Jesus Christ. Through active worship and prayer we seek always to stay Alive in God’s glory, Abide, in the teachings of Jesus Christ, and Advance God’s mission in this world through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Members of Fairwood UMC vow to support the UMC, their local congregation, and show the love of God to all with their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
